Our take
Mueller State Park sits at 9,000 feet outside Divide, west of Colorado Springs, with 132 campsites and deluxe cabins spread through forested terrain on Pikes Peak's back side. It operates year round and has 55 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, plus a couple of sites with adjacent horse stalls. Good choice for campers who want mountain scenery without going deep into the high country.
